To Create a User Account That Uses Bentley IMS Authentication

  1. Right-click the Users node and select New > User.

    The New User Properties dialog opens.

  2. On the General tab, do the following:
    1. In the Name field, enter the name of a Bentley IMS user.

      While this field is required, the name entered here does not have to match the name of the Bentley IMS user, as entered in the Bentley IMS database.

  3. On the Other Identities tab, do the following:
    1. In the Bentley IMS user name field, enter the primary email address that is associated to the user's Bentley IMS account.
    2. Leave the Bentley IMS provider field blank. This field will be automatically populated with the user's identity provider, which is https://ims.bentley.com/, once the user logs in using Bentley IMS authentication, or once the administrator runs the next Bentley IMS user synchronization (whichever comes first).
  4. Click OK.

    The user is added to the list of users.

    Assuming that Bentley IMS authentication is enabled in the datasource, this user can now log in to this datasource using their Bentley IMS credentials.
